Tim Berners-Lee contributed to the field of technology by creating the world wide web. He created HTML, which is used to create web pages, HTTP which is the foundation of data communication on the web, and YRL which are web addresses. Tim was inspired by his parents who were computer scientists. Tim also grew his own interests on how to provide and access scientific data. Tim Berners-Lee a white man who received education from Oxford did not face any racial or gender-based underrepresentation himself, he is very vocal with his opinion on digital inequality and the lack of diversity in tech. Encouraging ethical tech development and supporting diverse leadership and role models are ways to combat racial bias in computing technology today. Tim Berners-Lee

Hedy Lamarr contributed to technology by co-inventing a system called frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS). This invention later became the foundation for modern wireless communication technologies, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. As a young child Hedy Lamarr was always interested in technology, she enjoyed building things and was curious about how things worked. Her invention was motivated by a desire to improve military communication systems. In 1940 engineering was male dominated industry, under representation shaped experiences in technology because Hedy was known for her looks and being a celebrity actress, so her contributions were ignored, not taken seriously, and had limited opportunities. Some ways to combat racial bias in computing and technology are to provide accessible education for everyone around the world and provide a diverse work environment where everyone's voice and opinion is valued.               ...
